Publishing platform updates

Following the recent update to our publishing platform we have now introduced a number of new features and functionality for you. The update includes adding the ability for you create Deep links and Universal IDs (also known as UNIVIDS), and an improved reporting system, find out more below,

Deep links and Universal IDs

Deep links and Universal IDs (also known as UNIVIDS) allow you to link directly to your apps that you have uploaded to Vodafone AppSelect from a web page, a banner or even directly from an Android app. These give you the flexibility to create campaigns that not only generate interest for the consumer, but will take them directly to your app or game. This functionality will help you as a developer to better promote your apps

Deep links are references that allow you to give direct access from either a mobile browser, or an Android application to your apps in the Vodafone AppSelect shop.

A UNIVID is a mechanism that provides you a constant static deep link that is mapped to content that has been published in different countries. Or to rephrase that, with a UNIVID you have a simple mechanism to specify which content can be reached per country. You can embed UNIVIDs into mobile web pages or Android apps in the same way that you can embed a deep link.

Find out more about Deep links and Universal IDs and how to create them (including examples) in our guide here.

Reporting system improvements

We’ve also been working hard to improve our reporting engine and have now introduced enhanced usage reporting that gives you more detail in a clearer and easier to view way. See the updates below,

  • Aggregated usage data for all of your applications
  • Access from the top navigation bar: My Reports
  • My Reports:  My Usage Reports
    1. Data on this report is refreshed daily
    2. Usage data is displayed graphically and can also be exported as CSV
    3. Please bear with us as the new reporting system is upgraded. It is well worth it! As we upgrade the system:
      1. Data may not be immediately displayed following the upgrade.
      2. On the first days following the upgrade, you may experience delays getting data.
      3. Also note as we are upgrading into the month of December, download data will not be available from the beginning of the month for the month of December
      4. This is normal, do not worry all your information is safely stored with us.
  • My reports :  My Payment Reports
    1. The new system will start to report data in My Payment Reports from the mid January 2012 (for the December transactions).
    2. Data is refreshed monthly for transactions occurring on the previous month.
    3. Once the new system is in place (from January 2012), if you sell chargeable apps, you will no longer receive emails with the payment information as all the data will be available from within My Payments Reports

See screen shots below for examples of new reporting views,
