On Saturday 16th April we hosted a developer day with our friends from Sony Ericsson and Ideaworks. We wanted to focus on 3D techniques for Android (did you ever think that the pressure API could be used to do something cool?) and the capabilities of the OpenGL libraries as well as a demo of the @airplaysdk from Ideaworks.
@erikhellman‘s presentation also talked about the different interaction methodologies we are using (i.e. touch vs. mouse), how that affects users, how sticking a 3D overlay on a 2D experience isn’t the way forward and also how 3D is not ...

Come and hear Vodafone at "Mobile for the Cultural Sector" event
Written by content_editor on date 13 January 2011 in Event.
Although this isn't a traditional developer event as such we thought you might be interested to learn about Vodafone's presence at the "Mobile for the Cultural Sector" event, 8-9 March 2011, London. At the event Jessica Gwyther, Global Content Manager - Vodafone, will be debating how cultural institutions can exploit and make accessible their content on mobile?
The event focuses on mobile and the cultural sector. The event (organised by Culture Label, Camerjam and Spark) will explore the use of mobile technology by cultural organisations looking at the opportunities it offers to generate new content and revenue streams, communicate ...
Mobile Unconference comes to Dusseldorf
Written by mobilewidgets on date 16 November 2010 in Event.
Yesterday 100+ developers from Germany, Holland, UK and Canada attended Mobile Unconference Dusseldorf, the Vodafone developer team were also there. Here are my thoughts about the event from a fog bound Dusseldorf airport lounge.
Although situated in Dusseldorf the event encouraged developers from Rotterdam to also attend, which was a nice touch. These developers were bused to the event in style, like rock stars, unfortunately a number of traffic jams meant they had a longer journey than expected, but all arrived happy to get the day started.
The event was run in a bar camp style that also included a ...
DroidCon London
Written by mobilewidgets on date 29 October 2010 in Event.
After a very busy couple of days DroidCon London is still in full flow, but we wanted to give a quick update before it comes to a close. This year the event format consisted of a bar camp day on Thursday and today a more traditional approach with a packed agenda of sessions.

Aside from the team manning the Vodafone developer booth, @johnwyer took to the stage during the bar camp as part of the non Android Market App Store panel and discussed the benefits of the Vodafone Shop. Later today Aaron Johnston from the team will be taking part ...
