The GSMA Smarter App Challenge

The GSMA Smarter App Challenge, launched at Mobile World Congress 2012, encourages developers to create mobile applications that are more user and network friendly. The Smarter App Challenge as a vehicle to drive readership and acceptance of the new GSMA Developer Guidelines aimed at optimizing battery life and reducing judicious use of mobile network resources. Backed by mobile operators including Vodafone, Bharti Airtel, KT Corporation, NTT DOCOMO, Orange, Rogers Communications, Telecom Italia, TeliaSonera, Verizon Wireless and VimpelCom, this initiative is open to all GSMA members to support.

At Vodafone developer we recently launched the Smart Accessibility Awards, where you have the chance to win a share of €200,000! In the lead up to the competition we’ve teamed up with Mobile Monday (http://www.mobilemonday.org.uk/) and ICT (www.ictktn.org.uk) to host four half-day  accessibility workshops, which kick off in Edinburgh on Friday 16th September. Vodafone Netherlands today announces Skylines (http://skylin.es/) as a finalist in the Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2011 contest. Skylines beat off serious competition from other Dutch start-ups, such as Repudo and 22 Tracks, in two local judging rounds, and will now go to head-to-head against six other country finalists to be in with a chance to win a share of the €225,000 prize fund.
