Hello,
I have been trying to get a HuaWai K3565 stick working with my EEE PC 4G. The stick does work with my Windows XP laptop. I also have a EEE PC 900 I'd like it to work with too.
Both of the EEE PCs run the factory installed Xandros implementation of Linux.
Having read a few posts on this, and another forum It looked as if it shouldn't be too difficult to get the K3565 to work with my EEE PCs . . .
So My first attempt seemed to go smoothly - I got right through to where VMC attempted to connect, but eventually didn't connect.
I tried various other things - some had no effect some stopped it completely.
I tried connecting via the EEE PCs own networking utilities - this also seemed to work, but fell at the last fence - getting connected.
So my last attempt was as follows:
Restore Factory Settings - I thought I'd start from a clean sheet.
Run Synaptic and install VMC (V2.10.1)
Edit usb_modeswitch.conf to remove # * from Huawai line
Plug in HUAWAI K3565 rev2 HSDPA USB STICK ('stick')
Run VMC
Appears to stall on splash screen - occaisional HD flash or flash on USB device
Unplugged 'stick'
Re-started system
Plugged in 'stick'
Started VMC
Detected Huawei E660
Hangs on splash screen
Closed VMC
Started VMC
Now asks for contract / prepay
Selected prepay
Profile Window opens
Default settings?: Username: web / Password: web / APN Host pp.internet
Clicked OK
Clicked Connect
Connecting Box . . . with blue square which bounces back and forth . . .
Box dissappears after 30-60 seconds
VMC window still says connecting
But Not connected
Now this the same result I had for my first attempt.
Does this look familiar to anyone? Can anyone suggest something which might just get this working?
It all looks OK, but just won't connect.
Steve
