I'm trying and failing to get The K3770 working with my Laptop. Tailing /var/messages shows the dongle being recognised but only as a scsi drive mass storage device.

DCM software is not recognising the device and I cannot connect to it. The device works fine under Windows but I need it working in Linux. ANy help appreciated.

Hurray - Thanks Andrew - finally got it working and posting this using it. Cannot see your answer when logged on so cannot tock it as correct/helpful.

Just a note for others following; Once software is installed, reboot (don't ask me why,) Once restarted make sure that you do not have any other network connections active before inserting the dongle; That's how I got it working.

Kind regards Ashley

  1. Hi Chippyash, I'd assumed you were already using the latest bcm, wader and python-messaging packages. I updated the original answer as I can't insert hyperlinks in the comments - (6 months ago) andrewbird

  1. Hi Chippyash, sorry I didn't realise the forum was going to strip the underscores from the url, I've made it a proper link now and it seems OK. Try reloading the page and click on the link itself - (6 months ago) andrewbird

Oops - sorry - seem to have deleted your original comment Andrew! Apologies.

Hi Chippyash, You'll need an updated usb-modeswitch-data package to flip the K3770. Ideally Ubuntu would update their package as yours is a Long Term Service release and I submitted the patches to enable the latest devices to the upstream developer ages ago. But seeing that it's not happened, I've uploaded one to my web site in the meantime. It's not suitable for some of the older modem on Lucid, which is why I'm not posting it to the forge site. link http://www.spheresystems.co.uk/usb-modeswitch-data20110714-1betavine1all.deb

update

I'd assumed you were already using the latest bcm, wader and python-messaging packages. Check out the ones over at the forge, you'll need the beta5 / lucid versions

python-messaging wader-core bcm

Hope it helps,

Andrew
