QoS Profiles

wip

The Quality-of-Service (QoS) Profiles API provides a set of predefined network performance characteristics, such as latency, throughput, and priority, identified by a unique profile name.

These profiles allow application developers to specify the desired network behavior for their application’s data traffic.

This API follows the CAMARA standard specification.

How it works

The CAMARA QoD Profiles API, part of GSMA’s Open Gateway initiative, enables developers to dynamically request network performance characteristics such as guaranteed bandwidth, low latency, and prioritised traffic through standardised RESTful endpoints. It exposes a catalogue of predefined QoS profiles, each mapping to 3GPP QoS classes and defining parameters like minimum upstream/downstream rates, packet delay budgets, and priority levels. Developers can create, query, extend, or delete QoS sessions tied to specific devices or flows, with status notifications sent via callback URLs.

Authentication uses OAuth 2.0, and all interactions follow CAMARA’s security and interoperability guidelines. Technically, the API is defined using OpenAPI specifications and operates over HTTPS with JSON payloads. It ensures interoperability across operators by standardising QoS provisioning workflows, making it ideal for use cases such as gaming, streaming, IoT, and telemedicine. Vodafone implements this API within its Developer Marketplace, supporting profile discovery, session management, and notifications aligned with CAMARA standards.
