Open and accessible APIs that are driving innovation and unlocking new product opportunities.

Simplify network integration

Developer-friendly service APIs that make it easier to integrate with our network capabilities.

Vodafone and the CAMARA Alliance

Supported by the Linux Foundation and in close collaboration with the GSMA, CAMARA is an open-source project aimed at providing developer-friendly APIs. These APIs will harmonize requirements and definitions across multiple participating operators, addressing API interoperability across the telco industry.

CAMARA works in collaboration with the GSMA Open Gateway initiative to align API requirements and publish API definitions, delivering standardised API specifications and developer-friendly documentation. This agile approach helps to accelerate API innovation, facilitate developer adoption, and deliver improved time to market.

As a premier member of the CAMARA alliance, Vodafone is helping shape the future of API connectivity under a common framework. Exposing telco capabilities in an open, intuitive, and programmable way will enable developer communities to create innovative services using our advanced network capabilities.

How can the CAMARA APIs help you?

Consistency - APIs built to standardised specifications help reduce development costs:

  • Developers want APIs that work across multiple operator networks.
  • CAMARA APIs have a consistent ‘look and feel’ to promote deployment by CSPs and adoption by developers.

Simplicity - Developer-friendly APIs that simplify complexity:

  • CAMARA APIs are easy to consume for developers, with limited telco expertise.
  • Managed updates provide visibility of future changes via a coordinated release schedule.

Accessibility – Improved time to market:

  • Open source encourages rapid enhancement of APIs, with relating development and testing tools.
  • This approach facilitates operator deployment, developer uptake, and an improved time to market.

CAMARA Sandbox

The Vodafone CAMARA sandbox, supported by the Vodafone API Lab, offers developers a secure and free environment to test and refine their applications. This sandbox allows developers to trial new APIs, provide feedback, and collaborate with Vodafone teams to prioritise the release of new products to market. The sandbox also allows Vodafone to offer early access to beta versions of CAMARA specifications for developer feedback, while the CAMARA working groups finalise the stable version of the specification.

Benefits to developers from using the CAMARA sandbox include:

  • Risk-Free Testing: Developers can experiment with APIs without any risk to live systems, ensuring their applications work as intended before deployment.
  • Accelerated Development: Pre-prepared examples and collections help developers quickly execute APIs in a test environment, speeding up the development process.
  • Feedback Mechanism: Developers can provide valuable feedback on their applications and use cases for these APIs, helping to improve and refine them before they are released to production.
Note
Please note that the credentials provided for our sandbox may have certain limitations, allowing you to test without needing a commercial contract. The terms and conditions of our developer marketplace will still apply.
